QuickSTEP Support

QuickSTEP is a native macOS viewer for quickly inspecting, measuring, annotating, and capturing STEP CAD files.

Supported files

QuickSTEP supports .step and .stp files. Files are opened locally and are never modified.

Finder Quick Look

Install QuickSTEP in the Applications folder, select a STEP file in Finder, and press Space. QuickSTEP provides both preview and thumbnail extensions.

Measurements

Measurements are calculated from the tessellated preview mesh. They are useful for review and communication, but are not a replacement for tolerance-grade inspection in a full CAD system.

Annotations and screenshots

The full app supports text, circle, and arrow annotations, multiple measurements, local capture history, clipboard copy, and PNG export. Markup is stored locally and separately from the STEP file.

Troubleshooting

• If Finder still shows an older preview, relaunch Finder and reopen Quick Look.
• If a file cannot be displayed, confirm that it is a valid STEP file containing solid or shell geometry.
